Freeland Lights Up Triple-A with Big Week After Dodgers Option

Yahoo Sports

Freeland shines in Triple-A after getting optioned by Dodgers. The shortstop has won his first PCL Player of the Week Award and is a welcome addition to the team.

Mookie Betts' return from injury has drawn some attention, but Alex Freeland is proving to be a welcome addition to the Dodgers' Triple-A roster this season. The second baseman was optioned by the Los Angeles Dodgers last week and has been dominating for Oklahoma City Comets. Freeland hit his third home run of the week in just two games with the Triple-A team, earning him the Pacific Coast Player of the Week Award.

He went 400/. 464/. 920 with three home runs, eight runs scored, and 11 RBIs over five games.

The 25-year-old Freeland is the second player within the Dodgers' organization to win the PCL Player of the Week Award this season. If he can maintain this form, there's a good chance he'll find his way back into the Dodgers' starting lineup soon. In his brief MLB career with the Dodgers, Freeland made 29 appearances, including two starts at second and third base.

The Dodgers have been impressed with Freeland's play so far and hope to see more of this exciting talent in the future.
