'A snakey thing to do' - Sutton on Salah's comments
Former Premier League striker Chris Sutton believes Mohamed Salah "will have known the damage" that his recent social media post about Liverpool's style of play will have done to head coach Arne Slot. The Egypt winger will leave the club after Sunday's final match of the campaign against Brentford at Anfield. On BBC Radio 5 Live's Monday Night Club, former Premier League winger Andros Townsend added: "I don't think you can include him.
I don't care about what the fans are going to say, because they are going to disagree with you anyway. "You cannot have a player undermine you like that because next season, when Mohamed Salah isn't there, all the other players are going to remember it and start undermining you as well. "You have to nip it in the bud and say 'I know you want your farewell, but you haven't been professional and I'm not going to play you'.
I think that's the only choice. " Watch the full episode on BBC iPlayer and listen on BBC Sounds [BBC] [BBC]
