Florentino Pérez will not be the only candidate running for Real Madrid president in the upcoming election as Enrique Riquelme has finalized the details of his candidacy and will officially announce it this week, requesting two debates against Florentino Pérez, according to a report from Radio MARCA and El Confidencial. Pérez’s chances of getting re-elected are still very high though, but Riquelme’s candidacy would ultimately delay Real Madrid’s plans of appointing José Mourinho as head coach, given that Pérez would have to wait until winning the election. The deadline for Riquelme to confirm and announce his candidacy is on May 23rd.
