Salisbury University women's lacrosse advances to NCAA Division III Final Four
Salisbury University women's lacrosse advanced to the NCAA Division III Final Four, and will face Wesleyan on Friday.
The undefeated Salisbury University Women's Lacrosse team is headed to NCAA Division III Final Four after beating Christopher Newport 17-4 in their regional final matchup on Saturday, May 16. It was the third time that the No. 2-ranked Salisbury Sea Gulls faced off against Christopher Newport this season, and they grabbed a third win over their rival, punching a ticket to the national semifinals.
First-quarter goals from Regan McDonnell, Lauren Hackett, Grace Doyle and Mackenzie Demaio grave the Sea Gulls early control over the game, and they would not relinquish it as they cruised to a double-digit victory. Miranda Mears, a Parkside High School alum, finished the day with four goals for Salisbury, with McDonnell and Hackett adding three more each, and Doyle scoring two. Athlete of the Week for May 11-17 Next up for this Salisbury team looking to win the program's fifth national title is this weekend's Final Four, where it will face Wesleyan. The game between Salisbury and Wesleyan is set to take place on Friday, May 22, at Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, New York. The game is scheduled to begin at 3:30 following the other Final Four game between Tufts and Middlebury.
