It’s really only two months in the grand scheme of things, and there will be much more to talk about in the middle of July with media days — so why not deal with the profiles before then?
Welcome to the Triple Threat series. We will profile every player on Notre Dame’s roster, but I’m going to give you three at a time to save some time. Every Triple Threat post will include one offensive player, one defensive player, and one newcomer (freshman or transfer) until we have to do some different combos down the road.
So let’s get started with today’s Triple Threat: RB Kedren Young #21 DT Jason Onye #47 QB Noah Grubbs #10 KEDREN YOUNG #21 HEIGHT 5-11 WEIGHT 234 CLASS SOPHOMORE HOMETOWN LUFKIN, TX HIGH SCHOOL LUFKIN On the surface, Kedren Young looks a lot like a Jadarian Price clone — except a little bigger. Just like Price, Young made his bones on the high school fields in the state of Texas where he became a highly sought after 4-Star recruit. At the time, he was thought to be the better of the two running backs in Notre Dame’s class that year (Aneyas Williams was the other).
When given the opportunity to carry the ball during his freshman year, he did well and racked up 116 yards and 1 TD in 21 carries. Last spring, there was hope that Young would battle for a spot as RB3, or at the very least, a back to be used in short yardage situations. No other back on Notre Dame’s roster had the power he possessed, but sadly he was injured in spring and missed the entire 2025 season and was very limited during the 2026 spring practice season.
