High school girls golf: Woods Cross leads 5A by 2 strokes in quest for repeat, Skyline freshman in the medalist lead

Rajeev shot a 2-under 70 after carding an even-par back nine and leads Brightonโs Claire Olafsson and Woods Crossโ Tess Poulsen by one stroke.
Reigning 5A champ, Woods Crossโ Whitni Johnson, is only two back after an even-par 72, while Woods Crossโ Vivian Oaks and Brightonโs Catherine Cook shot 1-over 73s and are very much within striking distance. One of the tournament favorites, Salem Hillsโ Navy Hubbs, got into trouble early and was 6-over after 7, but she played the last nine holes 1-under. If anyone is capable of making a move from the pack itโs her.
A year ago, she shot a 75 on Day 1 and a 70 on Day 2 to finish runner-up. The rally for the team title is shaping up to be a two-team race between Woods Cross and Skyline. The defending state champion Wildcats shot an opening-round 314 on Monday, with Skyline just two shots back with a 316.
