Pine Island boys land third in state True Team track and field meet
May 18—EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. — Pine Island finished third and Stewartville fourth on Saturday in the Class 2A boys True Team track and field meet. Belle Plaine won the meet with 582 points.
Orono was second (550). Winona was seventh. Stewartville's Thomas Lofgren won the shot put with a throw of 55 feet.
Lofgren was second to Orono's Nicolas Pasulka (160-7) in the discus. Stewartville's Karen Roeder was second in the triple jump, clearing 42-3 3/4. St.
Peter was the girls True Team champion, winning with 607 points. Orono and Delano both finished well, Orono with 556 points for second and Delano 510 points for third. Byron landed fifth overall (432 points), Winona eighth (394) and Stewartille ninth.
Stewartville's Avery Nelson had another strong meet, winning the triple jump (38-3) and the 200. Stewartville's Ella Theobald won the shot put (39-3 3/4) and was third in the discus (124-10).
