The Celtics could have plenty of options to upgrade their team, and perhaps the biggest name in free agency will be LeBron James. He will be an unrestricted free agent, and he could be looking for a new home if the Los Angeles Lakers decide they want to get younger and build around Luka Donฤiฤ‡. James is arguably the greatest player of all-time, and he proved in the playoffs that he can still put up big numbers on any given night.

According to NBA insider Shams Charania, the Celtics could be one of the teams that have already called to inquire about him. โ€œHonestly, I think LeBron, more than past years, probably needs even more time with his family, with his inner circle,โ€ ESPNโ€™s Shams Charania said in an appearance on "The Pat McAfee Show ". โ€œI do know a lot of teams are calling him and his camp.

I spoke to Rich Paul the other day at the Chicago Draft Combine last week, and he told me every contender in the NBA, essentially, since the season ended has placed a call. โ€ When Charania says "every contender," it's safe to say the Celtics fall under that umbrella. They have Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown and won an NBA Championship in 2024.

The finances for signing LeBron would be complicated, but it's safe to assume he would only be interested in joining a contender. The Celtics are already linked to another superstar as well, in Giannis Antetokounmpo. Charania also reported on Monday that the Celtics pursued him at the trade deadline and will continue to pursue him in the offseason.
