Learner Tien and Taylor Fritz win doubles match at Geneva Open
We are even more excited to report that Learner Tien is playing doubles with Taylor Fritz this week at the Geneva Open than we were when Tien played with Daniil Medvedev at Indian Wells . Tien has been playing with multiple partners including his childhood friend Alex Michelsen last week at the Italian Open. Tien’s coach and tennis legend, Michael Chang , is likely trying to get Tien more confident on the clay.
Ironically, Chang, the 1989 French Open champion, was the most accomplished on clay and wants to pass that on to Tien. The Tien Fritz team won its first match together, and we think “Claylor” might help foster Tien’s skills. He is a veteran on the ATP Tour and has been the most accomplished American player of his generation. Fritz is coming back from a serious knee injury that has sidelined him for months. Teaming with Tien helps Fritz get more clay court match play before next week’s French Open.
