Rios tosses shutout in PHS' win over Ti
TICONDEROGA — Plattsburgh High kept pace with Peru in CVAC Division I regular season baseball over the weekend with two victories, including a big 5-0 decision at Ticonderoga on Saturday. The Hornets and Nighthawks have lost just once in CVAC play this season, having beaten each other one time. Diego Rios went the distance for the shutout on the mound for the Hornets, allowing two hits, walking two and striking out eight.
Jackson Dorsett started and took the loss for the Sentinels. “Rios was in control the entire game and did a good job of getting soft contact throughout,” Ticonderoga coach Dan Dorsett said. “He only had two strikeouts through five innings but finished strong, allowing just two hits to Jackson Dorsett.
“PHS did a nice job in the game and was solid all day. ” Lucas Kowalowski had two of Plattsburgh's seven hits. PHS got back-to-back doubles in the second inning from Cooper Holland and Ryan Colburn to score twice early, and a RBI double from Kallen Abernethy in the fifth extended its lead to four runs.
