Former BYU, Utah State running back Miles Davis has an NFL deal after a tryout

This time, itโs former BYU and Utah State running back Miles Davis, who signed with the Carolina Panthers on Monday. Davis had a workout with the team prior to the signing, according to KPRC 2โs Aaron Wilson . The 5-foot-11, 215-pound Las Vegas native spent five years at BYU before transferring to Utah State for his final season in 2025.
He went undrafted in last monthโs NFL draft, then had a rookie mini-camp tryout with the Seattle Seahawks but did not sign with the defending Super Bowl champions after that audition. From 2020-24, Davis ran for 468 yards and two touchdowns as a reserve back for the Cougars, while adding 16 receptions for 131 yards and a touchdown. He flourished in a starring role for Utah State last season, running for a career-high 731 yards and eight touchdowns while averaging 5.
6 yards per carry. Davis also had 28 receptions for 201 yards and three touchdowns for the Aggies during his lone season in Logan. He joins a crowded Panthers running back room that includes Chuba Hubbard, Jonathon Brooks, Trevor Etienne, AJ Dillon and Anthony Tyus III.
