Steelers sign two more offensive rookies in Germie Bernard and Eli Heidenreich as only Drew Allar remains unsigned.

The Pittsburgh Steelers took another step toward locking in their 2026 draft class on Monday, signing wide receiver Germie Bernard and running back/wide receiver Eli Heidenreich to rookie contracts. Bernard, Pittsburghโ€™s second-round pick at No. 47 overall, gives the Steelers another young pass catcher to develop under new head coach Mike McCarthy.

The Alabama product is coming off a strong 2025 season in which he caught 64 passes for 862 yards and seven touchdowns. Before his two-year run with the Crimson Tide, Bernard also spent time at Michigan State and Washington, giving him experience in multiple offensive systems. Germie Bernard and Eli Heidenreich signed their rookie contracts today.

โ€” Ray Fittipaldo (@rayfitt1) May 18, 2026 Heidenreich brings a different type of intrigue. The Steelers selected him with their final pick of the draft at No. 230 overall, and his versatility stands out immediately.

During his career at Navy, he appeared in 38 games and produced as both a receiver and runner, totaling 109 catches for 1,994 yards and 16 touchdowns, along with 1,157 rushing yards and seven scores. While Heidenreich is not expected to become an All-Pro, his dual-threat skill set and pre-draft measurables have drawn comparisons to San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey. Pittsburgh has now signed eight of its 10 draft picks.
