FSU baseball: Wes Mendes named ACC Pitcher of the Year, four others earn all-conference honors

This season, he ranks No. 10 nationally in wins (9), No.

12 in strikeouts (109) and No. 15 in WHIP (1. 00), throwing two complete games in 14 starts.

In ACC play, he led the league in innings pitched (62. 1) and strikeouts (79). Mendes, who was also voted as a first-team All-ACC selection, is the third pitcher in FSU history to earn the award (alongside Bryan Henry in 2007 and Parker Messick in 2021).

It’s also the first time in program history FSU has had a major conference year-end award winner in three straight seasons (James Tibbs III, ACC Player of the Year in 2024 and Alex Lodise, ACC Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year in 2025). In addition, junior right-handed reliever John Abraham, junior left-handed starter Trey Beard and junior center fielder Brayden Dowd were all named to the All-ACC third team with outfielder John Stuetzer named to the All-Freshman Team.
