NFL insider suggests Aaron Rodgers may have delayed Steelers signing for 1 big reason
PFT's Mike Florio theorized that Aaron Rodgers may have delayed his Pittsburgh Steelers signing for one big reason in 2026.
The timing of Aaron Rodgers ' decision to sign with the Pittsburgh Steelers has been called into question, as one prominent insider believes it may have been connected to the NFL schedule release . According to Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio, Rodgers may have purposefully delayed his signing with the Steelers in order to snag a better schedule for the team in 2026. "Last year, I'm sure we've said multiple times, [Rodgers] is going to wait until after the schedule comes out to tell anyone what he's going to do," Florio said via PFT Live.
"And once the schedule did come out, the NFL acknowledged that, if they had known that Aaron Rodgers was going to be playing for the Steelers, some things would be different ā starting with Week 1 Steelers-Jets. That would have been a primetime game. "Here's the Steelers' offseason schedule: When does Phase 3 start?
Where are the OTAs? Monday, May 18. Alright, when does the schedule come out?
Well, it came out Wednesday of that prior week. When's the perfect time to commit? After the schedule is released, and before the OTAs.
