Virginia Tech Hokie Baseball Sets Up Its Post Season with an ACC Series Win Over Clemson

Hokies beat Clemson in Game 2 for their 4th ACC series in a row. That earns a bye game in the ACC Tournament, but still leaves them on the bubble for the NCAA.

Their attempt at a sweep went by the pitching meltdown wayside, however. There was a solid attempt at a late inning rally; but the “good bat karma” ran out that leaves them on the NCAA post season bubble. If they could grab a win in either or both Games 2 and 3, they’d get a break and a better seeding choice for the season ender. Well, Game 2, looked like a classic no-offense pitchers’ duel, with both Clemson and Tech keeping runners from crossing the plate for almost the entire game. Clemson managed a run in the top of the 3rd, but their 9 hits were scattered and of little end consequence, and the Hokies matched them at about 50%.

There are times when it pays off to hang around for the entire game, though.
