It will be an Ocean State doubleheader when the Basketball Hall of Fame Tip-Off returns to Mohegan Sun Arena for the 2026-27 menโ€™s basketball season . Providence and the University of Rhode Island will both take the floor Nov. 7, the first weekend of nonconference action on the schedule.

The Friars will take on Nebraska and the Rams will meet Monmouth in a showcase event just a short drive over the border into Connecticut. Game times have yet to be released, and tickets will go on sale Sept. 11.

โ€œThis will be our third time playing at Mohegan Sun in my five seasons at Rhode Island,โ€ URI coach Archie Miller said. โ€œIt is a quality environment for the team and the fans. โ€ โ€œHaving coached in the Hall of Fame Tip-Off last season, I was impressed with the arena and the first-class event that the Hall of Fame put together,โ€ Providence coach Bryan Hodgson said.

โ€œI know Friar fans enjoy going to Mohegan Sun and I am sure they will be looking forward to this matchup. โ€ Providence figures to face an immediate test against the Cornhuskers, who reached the Sweet 16 in the NCAA Tournament last season after a 20-0 start. Fred Hoiberg has guided Nebraska to March Madness in two of his last three seasons after four appearances with Iowa State from 2011-15.

The Friars are hoping for a return to meaningful postseason play after missing the last three editions of the event. Hodgson and his South Florida team suffered a 99-95 loss to George Washington in this event last season. The Bulls allowed 67.
