Florida State baseball's Wes Mendes has been named the ACC Pitcher of the Year , only the third Seminole in program history to earn the honor. 11 Seminoles' (38-16, 19-11) ace and had a dominant season, appearing in 14 games and holding a 9-3 overall record. He struck out 109 this season, while issuing 23 walks and allowing 61 hits in 84 innings pitched. He struck out 10 or more batters in four games this season, and twice threw complete games, one in a 10-0 run-rule win over Wake Forest and the other a nine inning appearnce in a 10-1 win over Pitt.
Mendes is a semifinalist for the Dick Howser Trophy and the National Pitcher of the Year by the College Baseball Foundation. He was named to the Golden Spikes Award Midseason Watch List and Baseball America’s Midseason Pitcher of the Year Watch List and was recognized with Midseason All-America honors on Perfect Game’s first team and D1Baseball’s second team. Mendes is also one of five players to land on the All-ACC teams, earning first-team honors.
Alongside him are junior right-handed reliever John Abraham, junior left-handed starter Trey Beard, junior center fielder Brayden Dowd, recognized with Third Team All-ACC honors, and freshman outfielder John Stuetzer on the All-Freshman Team.
