The Los Angeles Rams were a popular choice to select a wide receiver or tight end in the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft. With Puka Nacua and Davante Adams both headed into the final year of their contracts, it only made sense for the Rams to consider the future at the position. While Nacua is a franchise cornerstone and surely a part of the Rams’ future plans long after the 2026 season ends, Adams will be 34 next offseason.

Five receivers were selected in the 32 picks of the first round, but the Rams didn’t contribute to that number after they instead delivered a shocking selection of quarterback Ty Simpson with the 13th pick. In fact, the Rams didn’t address the receiver room until the sixth round of the draft. Considering this is a team that’s ready to win now, it’s a bit surprising that they didn’t bring in someone who had a higher chance of making an immediate impact.

However, everyone recognizes the Rams as a potential Super Bowl contender, making them an attractive landing spot for the best receivers still available in free agency.
