Aaron Rodgers is coming back for another season, but he won't make enough to overtake Matthew Stafford as the highest earner in NFL history.

Aaron Rodgers has decided to continue playing in 2026, returning for his 22nd season in the NFL by signing a one-year deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers. A first-round pick in 2005, Rodgers is one of the oldest players in the league at 42 years old, but Matthew Stafford still holds a notable title over him. Through the 2025 season, Stafford has the most career earnings of any player in NFL history with $408.

Including their projected earnings for 2026, Stafford will maintain his lead over Rodgers next season as the top-paid player of all time.
