Vote for the Globe-News Athlete of the Week for May 11-16 presented by Happy State Bank

Athletes from Canyon, Gruver, Silverton, Panhandle, Bushland, Tascosa, West Plains and Dumas are finalists for this week's honor.

The UIL State Track meet had its share of highlights from the area, creating a solid core of finalists for the Happy State Bank High School Athlete of the Week. The Globe-News is taking weekly nominations and will release a list of finalists for the Happy State Bank High School Athlete of the Week each week. Students in all varsity sports are eligible to be nominated.

The poll will close on Thursday and the winners will be announced thereafter. Nominations are due by 5 p. m.

each Saturday and can be submitted through email at sports@amarillo. com. Please include statistics from the week's games and any pertinent information or honors.

This Week's Finalists • Addyson Bristow, Canyon girls track — Bristow won the 800, 1,600 and her anchor leg in the 1,600 relay helped the Eagles claim a share of the Class 4A UIL State Track Team title at the state meet in Austin. • Merritt Cudd, Gruver baseball — Cudd laced a game-winning two-run single in the bottom of the seventh inning to help the Greyhounds beat Stamford 8-7 and sweep the regional semifinal series.
