Everton plotting ambitious raid on Chelsea for £30m striker Everton are plotting to make a loan move for Chelsea star Liam Delap this summer. Manager David Moyes has transformed the Merseyside club after taking over from Sean Dyches in January. The Toffees are set to finish in the top half of the Premier League table once again, but they will be slightly disappointed with the recent run of results.
Last weekend’s 2-2 draw at Crystal Palace means they are winless in their last five league matches, leaving them with a slim chance of qualifying for Europe next season. However, the club’s hierarchy are impressed with Moyes’ work and they are set to back him in the upcoming transfer market. According to The Sun , Everton have set their sights on Chelsea’s Delap.
They will reportedly ask the Blues if they can take the English striker on loan with an option to buy. Delap has endured a difficult start to life at Stamford Bridge after joining last summer for £30 million. The 23-year-old picked up an injury in August that kept him out of action for two months.
He has started only 11 times in the Premier League this season. Despite his struggles, Delap remains a highly sought-after forward who is known for his explosive pace, physicality and finishing ability. Chelsea already have plenty of attacking options, with Joao Pedro and Marc Guiu on their books.
