Former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey returned to the cage after nearly a decade to take on fellow women’s MMA pioneer Gina Carano on Saturday in the Most Valuable Promotions and Netflix MVP MMA 1 main event. While it had been a decade since “Rowdy” last competed, it was nearly 17 years since Carano last fought. Both women entered the fight in incredible shape.
But with Rousey being 39 and Carano turning 44 last month, it was difficult to know what to expect. Rousey immediately took Carano down. Carano looked for a guillotine choke.
Rousey popped her head out. She transitioned to an arm bar. She extended it and Carano quickly tapped out.
It only took Rousey 17 seconds to pull off her trademark finish. Heading into the bout, Rousey said the fight would be her last. THE NOTORIOUS ARM BAR SUBMISSION!
