Washington football checks in on rising four-star safety

Yahoo Sports

Washington Huskies safeties coach Taylor Mays took a trip to Southern California to get an up-close look at one of his top targets.

As the Washington Huskies continue to search for reinforcements in the secondary in the 2027 class, four-star safety Jaden Walk-Green has emerged as a priority target for position coach Taylor Mays and defensive coordinator Ryan Walters. Mays recently took a trip down to Southern California to get a closer look at the Corona Centennial High School standout at the program's college showcase, as the Huskies have begun to turn up the heat in his recruitment. With four-star safety Gavin Williams projected to choose the USC Trojans when he announces his commitment on Sunday, May 17, out of a final four that also includes Notre Dame, UCLA, and UW, Walk-Green has emerged as another important target for the Huskies after receiving an offer in January.

Listed at 5-foot-11 and 180 pounds, and ranked as the nation's No. 348 overall prospect and No. 35 safety, Walk-Green has quickly become one of the more coveted defensive backs on the West Coast, as he's accrued 22 offers, nine of which came in January and February.

From that list, he appears to be down to four programs as a Big Ten battle is shaping up. It’s just former Trojan great Taylor Mays (safeties coach at UDub getting the 411 from former Trojan great and Centennial coach Vavae Malepeai at the @Cen10Football college showcase! ✌🏼 pic.

As his recruitment rolls on, the Huskies seem to have big plans in mind for the productive defender.
