Held at Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore, the "Race for Black-Eyed Susans" regularly draws fans from across the country. The first Preakness took place in 1873, joining the Belmont Stakes (which started in 1867). The inaugural Kentucky Derby was held in 1875, completing the trifecta.

The Preakness is the shortest race of the three, with horses running 1 3/16 miles on Baltimore's famous dirt track.
