North Carolina baseball clinches ACC regular-season title

North Carolina clinched the ACC regular-season title by taking two of three games from NC State in the final weekend of the regular season. Game 1 – North Carolina 9, NC State 4 North Carolina broke open a tight game with a five-run fifth inning and rode a strong start from Jason DeCaro to a 9-4 win over NC State in the series opener at Doak Field. The Tar Heels methodically built a lead and never let the Wolfpack mount a serious threat, answering each push to keep the game in hand. DeCaro earned his 10th victory, striking out eight and allowing four hits.

He kept NC State scoreless until the sixth, when two leadoff walks came around to score. All four Wolfpack runs came in that inning, including a three-run homer off freshman reliever Caden Glauber, who regrouped to limit further damage. Reliever Walker McDuffie finished it with two scoreless innings, striking out three for his fifth save.
