O’Hearn, who started at first base for the Pittsburgh Pirates, was fielding a popup off the bat of Alec Bohm in the top of the second when something felt off. “I was running in, came in and made the play,” he explained.

“Kind of like looked down, noticed the batter/runner was in my way. Tried to make a move to my right, felt like the top of my quad/hip flexor grabbed on me big time and immediately knew, ‘That felt weird. '” O’Hearn said he tried to play through the injury but didn’t feel good enough to continue.

“Every time I tried to do more than a walk or a slow-jog, it just felt like my leg was grabbing on me,” he said. After he was removed from the game, O’Hearn underwent an MRI and is awaiting the results. Despite being frustrated, he’s “optimistic” about the prognosis.

The Pirates will provide an update when more information becomes available. O’Hearn, who flew out to left field off Phillies starter Cristopher Sánchez on Saturday, has played in 44 games in his first year with the Pirates and is slashing . 289/.
