Ruby Meylan didn't have her 'best stuff' but got Oklahoma State softball to regional final
Oklahoma State softball is a win away from advancing to the super regional after topping Stanford on Saturday
STILLWATER — Give Dr. Ken Ravizza an assist on Oklahoma State softball ’s 7-2 victory over Stanford in the winner’s bracket final of the Stillwater Regional on Saturday at Cowgirl Stadium. Ruby Meylan , the ace pitcher of the 13th-seeded Cowgirls (40-15), was dominant from beginning to almost the end, allowing two runs on four hits in the complete-game victory that moved OSU one win from the super-regional round.
Three of those hits and both runs came in the top of the seventh inning with OSU comfortably ahead. But Meylan says she didn’t feel as good as her performance might suggest. “I didn’t have my best stuff,” Meylan said.
“Sometimes you just don’t have it. That’s life. This sports psychologist, Ken Ravizza, I heard him say, ‘You don’t have to feel good to play good.
You’re not that crappy of a softball player that you have to feel good to play good. ’ “Feeling good is overrated. I’ve just got to go out there and command the strike zone, throw the pitches where I want them, move it as much as I can and try to miss barrels.
