Veteran lefty Carlos Rodon makes his second start of 2026 for the Yankees, coming off surgery last October to remove loose bodies near his left elbow.

NEW YORK - In his personal 2026 opener last Sunday afternoon, Yankees starter Carlos Rodon’s command wasn’t exactly in midseason form. The veteran lefty walked five batters in a 4. 1-inning no-decision at Milwaukee last Sunday, a 4-3 Brewers win.

Still, “I like here he’s at…stuff-wise thought he was good,’’ Yanks manager Aaron Boone said in the leadup to Rodon’s Saturday night start against the Mets at Citi Field. Despite the “uncharacteristic’’ high walk totals, Boone felt that Rodon’s fastball had life and the slider and changeup showed good action. “Don’t feel like he’s far off,’’ Boone said of Rodon, charged with three runs on two hits against Milwaukee.
