Kansas softball suffers loss in NCAA regional against Oklahoma

Kansas softball didn’t do enough to pull off an upset against Oklahoma, and instead suffered a loss in this NCAA regional matchup in Norman, Oklahoma.

Kansas softball earned an opportunity to play Oklahoma in an NCAA regional matchup Saturday, but once it was over had a 9-0 loss in tow. The Jayhawks (36-20), defeated in five innings after the run-rule, only managed one hit over the course of the contest. The Sooners (50-8) took a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning, before a six-run bottom of the fourth broke the game open.

m. (CT) in Norman, Oklahoma, against either Michigan or Binghamton. KU beat Michigan 1-0 on Friday in the Norman Regional, on a walk-off hit in the eighth inning.

If Kansas wins its next game, it’ll advance to Sunday and a rematch against Oklahoma. The Jayhawks would need to beat the Sooners twice to win the NCAA regional. Time will tell, though, if they get that chance.
