This page will be updated as the day goes on. ⚾Game of the Day The Scituate baseball team went from being one swing away from being done early to one swing away from losing on Saturday afternoon. All it took was a fresh-faced pitcher to make sure it didn’t happen.

With the bullpen empty and the bases loaded, the Spartans turned to Liam Shields to save the day and the freshman came through, escaping a bases-loaded jam in the sixth and pitching himself out of another in the seventh in a 10-9 win over Juanita Sanchez. Drama seemed out of the question after Scituate turned a game tied at two into a route. The Spartans piled on eight runs in the fourth inning, getting two off a single from Tyler North , which was followed by an RBI double by Aiden Ouillette and a sacrifice fly by Kaleb Baccaire that made it 10-2.

With a runner on base, the Cavaliers managed to record the final out and keep the game going. Juanita Sanchez picked up one run in the fifth and then rallied for three more, loading the bases and forcing Scituate to go to the bullpen. Shields came in and gave up a run on a sacrifice fly, but retired the next hitter to end the inning.
