Orlando Storm clinch UFL playoff berth with win over Dallas
Thanks to quarterback Jack Plummer, The Orlando Storm (6-2) got the rushing game going Friday night and also clinched a UFL playoff spot in the process, scoring their most points of the season in a 31-24 victory at Dallas. The game, which was played on the military base at Fort Hood, Texas, featured the best rushing performance of the season by the Storm, and, surprisingly, the leading rusher was Plummer, who ran for 70 yards and also threw for 238 yards. It was the first game this season in which Plummer did not have a touchdown pass, but he did score on the ground with a 1-yard run in the second quarter, and then he shocked the Renegades with a 71-yard scamper later in the quarter to give the Storm their first lead of the game at 17-10.
Dallas tied the game 17-17, but the Storm scored two more rushing touchdowns, the others by Jashaun Corbin, from 4 yards, and KJ Hamler, from 7 yards, and Orlando led 30-17 early in the fourth. Orlando had, once again, started off slowly, allowing Dallas to post a 10-0 lead early. The Storm will close out the regular-season home schedule with a game at Inter&Co Stadium on Friday night against the DC Defenders at 8 p.
