Perry goes yard in Aledo softball's run-rule win; Brock returns to state tournament after 7-year drought

The two remaining softball teams in the postseason won regional championships with ease as Aledo and Brock are state-bound following Friday's action. 5A Div. Aledo's scoring began with Perry's 3-run blast to left in the bottom of the second, followed by one run in the third and nine in the third. In the nearly double-digit scoring frenzy, Aledo earned eight hits. A rematch of last year's state semifinal follows against one of the top teams in the nation in Melissa.

Leading 7-1 entering the final inning, Brock brought in eight runs in the seventh. Much of the damage in the series came from the top half of the order. In game two, Kayden Blue, Jayci Smith and Sloan Booth combined for eight hits, seven runs and eight RBIs.

Ali Coleman only allowed six hits and no earned runs across 14 innings of work, striking out eight Lady Raider batters in the process. Brock will take on Van Alstyne in the penultimate round. This is the program's first appearance in the final four since 2019.
