How Ensworth won TSSAA girls lacrosse state title, ending Harpeth Hall's dominance
Charlotte Williamson scored seven goals and led Ensworth to a 17-9 win over Harpeth Hall in the Division II-AA girls state championship.
BRENTWOOD – Charlotte Williamson's seven-goal performance helped Ensworth girls lacrosse defeat defending state champion Harpeth Hall , 17-9, on May 16 at Ravenwood in the TSSAA Division II-AA title game. Harpeth Hall's championship loss snapped four years of dominance. The Honeybears (12-3) won the inaugural TSSAA championship in 2025 after three straight TGLA state champions before lacrosse became a TSSAA sanctioned sport.
"Credit to Harpeth Hall, they're a great team, they know how to win when it matters, but our focus this week was on us and really diving into what we do well," Ensworth girls lacrosse coach Corey Donohoe said. "And really, the love they have for each other on this team and playing for each other and playing for your seniors. " Ensworth (14-3) was unfazed by Harpeth Hall's past accomplishments and controlled the game from start to finish.
Williamson's play dominated the game The sophomore posted her second-highest goal total. She had eight goals in a game earlier in her career. Her goals came at key points throughout the game.
After Harpeth Hall trimmed the deficit from four goals to two, Williamson scored early in the third quarter to put the Tigers back up 10-7. Early in the fourth quarter, she scored to give Ensworth a 15-9 cushion. She then scored the final goal three minutes later.
