Rampant Kingussie put 17 past sickness-ridden Kyle
[BBC] A day of high scoring was headlined by Premiership champions Kingussie's 17-0 annihilation of Kyles at the Dell, but despite their more limited 3-0 away win over Kinlochshiel, Newtonmore remain top. Managerless Skye gained their first point in a goalless draw away to high-flying Oban Camanachd and Caberfeidh recorded a 4-0 home win over Col Glen. The local derby between Lochaber and Fort William ended two apiece.
The Ferguson Balliemore Cup - shinty's intermediate championship - added to the goal rush with Lovat's 9-0 trouncing of Aberdour, Inveraray's 8-0 eclipse of Strathglass and a 4-0 victory for Beauly away to Glasgow Mid Argyll. Kingussie's top scorer against a Kyles side hit by a sickness bug was Ruaridh Anderson with five followed by Roddy Young (4) and hat tricks for Dylan Borthwick and Savio Genini. Thomas Borthwick and Zander Michie contributed one apiece.
Brodie MacBean struck for Newtonmore in the opening minute at Rearaig and Steven MacDonald followed up with two second-half penalties. Newtonmore remain six points clear of their local rivals, who have two games in hand. Ali Taylor got an early goal for Caberfeidh, Gavin McLauchlan and Farquhar MacRae made it 3-0 just before half time and McLauchlan wrapped it up, leaving promoted Col Glen still without a point and with a minus 20 goal difference after six games.
Skye's draw leaves Col Glen and Kyles, both pointless, stranded in the relegation zone, but Kyles now bottom on goal difference. At Spean Bridge, Hamish Shaw and Victor Smith gave Fort William a 2-0 half time lead but Lochaber responded through Max Campbell and a Ben Delaney equaliser. Lovat's impressive cup progress was spearheaded by five from Graeme MacMillan with Marc MacLachlan adding two and Sergio Thomson and Lewis Tawse one each.
Ruaraidh Graham Jnr with a hat trick along with two each from Coll MacKay and Bryce Griffin plus a single from Fraser Watt made it one way traffic for Inveraray at The Winterton. Iain Hunter and Connor Ross in the first half and David MacLean and Leon MacLellan sent Beauly through on a day when shinty's eight top games produced 49 goals.
