If only a few more bounces had gone their way they might’ve had them. As always, the final match of the season, in which neither team had anything to play for, felt a bit superfluous. The most notable occurrence outside of the two goals was Leonardo Bittencourt’s send-off in front of the Werder Bremen fans.

Meanwhile the season ended, of all things, on a Yan Couto goal. Here are my man of the match candidates: Samuele Inacio Inacio is basically my reason to live at this point. He could do absolutely nothing for 90 minutes and I’d still nominate him because he’s the one young player since Haaland left who actually excites me.

He laid a perfect cross to Guirassy, who should have had a tap-in, but it somehow went right between Guirassy’s legs. Serhou Guirassy Although he had a bucket of chances (1. 86 xG to be exact) in the end BVB only needed one, and Guirassy was the one to break the ice.

He scored a header off a beautiful cross from Julian Ryerson, who notched his 15th assist of the season. Julian Ryerson Ryerson’s prolific assist-making has been a neat little side plot this season, and I’m glad he added to his total again. Finishing with 15 is a nice little bonus.
