Departing Goretzka given Bayern trophy honour as Kane sets record
Bayern Munich's Leon Goretzka waves goodbye as he is substituted during the German Bundesliga soccer match between Bayern Munich and 1. FC Cologne at Allianz Arena. Sven Hoppe/dpa Bayern Munich captain Manuel Neuer accepted the Bundesliga trophy amid a flurry of red and white confetti on Saturday but quickly handed it to Leon Goretzka, who lifted the Meisterschale first in his home farewell after eight years at the club.
The obligatory beer showers followed after Bayern had rounded off the Bundesliga season with a 5-1 triumph over Cologne. Harry Kane scored another hat-trick to end the season as league top scorer for a third season with 36 goals. The England captain is the first player ever to finish as the Bundesliga's top scorer in each of his first three seasons.
He has scored 98 times in 93 Bundesliga appearances. The Bavarians had long secured a 35th German league title but will now regroup for the German Cup final against VfB Stuttgart next Saturday in Berlin as they look to wrap up a double. Their treble hopes ended with a Champions League semi-final loss to Paris Saint-Germain.
"We were very consistent and at a very high level this season," Bayern's Germany captain Joshua Kimmich told DAZN. "A lot of things were good. Of course the Champions League still weighs on us.
Next week we still have an important match. We will go into the Cup final fully focused. " Bayern's men will also celebrate the title at the city's main square and town hall on Sunday, with the Bayern women's double winners having the honour on Monday.
