Narvaez claims second stage win of 2026 Giro

Jhonatan Narvaez has won four career Giro d'Italia stages Jhonatan Narvaez held off Andreas Leknessund to claim victory on stage eight of the Giro d'Italia. Ecuadorian Narvaez was part of a three-man breakaway, along with UAE Emirates-XRG team-mate Mikkel Bjerg and Uno-X Mobility's Leknessund on the 156km stage, and made his move with about 10. 5km left.

Bjerg, having helped his team-mate, dropped off and Leknessund could not keep up with Narvaez, who went on to claim his second stage win of this year's race - crossing the line following a gruelling final few kilometres, which were mainly uphill. Leknessund finished 32 seconds behind the winner and said he could not be disappointed with his second place as "Narvaez was stronger in the end, kind of as expected".
