The coach also spoke about Andreas Christensen’s return
Photo by Alex Caparros/Getty Images Barcelona will play their final home game of the season this Sunday when they face Real Betis at Camp Nou, but two players are doubtful for the game as Frenkie de Jong and Marcus Rashford missed training on Saturday. Hansi Flick was asked about the status of those two players at a press conference and confirmed that De Jong will miss Sunday’s game but sounded optimistic that Rashford will be available. Flick also provided some good news on Andreas Christensen, who returned to the squad in midweek and will likely get minutes against Betis.
“The team that plays against Betis tomorrow will be different from the one that played against Alavés. De Jong is out of the squad for tomorrow; he’s not feeling well. That’s for sure, it’s decided.
And with Rashford, we have to wait, but I’m confident he’ll be with us. “Christensen? The plan is to give him some playing time tomorrow.
We wanted him to play against Alavés but we changed our minds. This time I do think it will be possible to give him playing time. Flick didn’t mention any injury issues with De Jong so the assumption is that the Dutchman is dealing with an illness that already kept him out of the game against Alavés, and there will be no risks taken with Frenkie so close to the World Cup.
