Urbig is pleased with both Neuer and Ulreich extending at FC Bayern

Manuel Neuer has extended his contract at Bayern Munich for another year, keeping him at the club through June 2027 and Sven Ulreich has done the same.

Both keepers put pen to paper on one-year extensions, putting to rest what has been a bit of a waiting game as Neuer had delayed his final decision several times despite confidence within the club that he was going to wind up extending. For Ulreich, an extension was also expected, but the Neuer narrative was far more under the limelight. The extension news comes in the midst of reports circulating around Germany that Julian Nagelsmann has included Neuer in his initial, 55-man roster for the German national team for the World Cup, though the keeper his said multiple times he’s remaining true to his word and staying retired from the national team.

That could change between now and the start of next month, but regardless of what happens with Germany, Bayern will have him around for at least another year. Fellow keeper Jonas Urbig took to his Instagram account to congratulate both Neuer and Ulreich on their extensions, adding the words “We’re so ready” to the post (via @iMiaSanMia ). As was always planned to be the case, now that Neuer has officially extended his stay at Bayern along with Ulreich, both keepers will continue to serve as mentors to Urbig while the young keeper does start to get some more minutes next season.

It was always the club’s intention to get Urbig ready to eventually be the number one keeper for when Neuer finally moves on. Jonas Urbig on IG pic. twitter.
