Who is Texas A&M's next likely commitment in the 2027 cycle?
After landing 2027 5-star OL Mark Matthew's, another Florida-based 5-star prospect could be the Aggies' next commitment in the 2027 cycle.
Texas A&M's future offensive line is as good as it gets after landing a massive commitment from 2027 five-star offensive tackle Mark Matthews , who chose the Aggies over Miami, LSU, and Georgia, joining fellow five-star tackle Kennedy Brown in a class that is firmly Rivals' No. 1-ranked cycle, and will continue to stay in the top spot if this recruiting momentum continues. Third-year offensive line coach Adam Cushing is one of, if not the best, assistant coaches in the country, and after seeing four 2025 offensive line starters hear their names called in the 2026 NFL Draft, it's clear that whoever is playing quarterback for the Aggies over the next three seasons, pass protection likely won't be an issue, especially at both tackle spots.
While Matthews, who stands 6'6" and nearly 300 pounds, is strictly a left tackle at this stage of his career, Kennedy Brown possesses the versatility to play at guard, but could also play right tackle with the Aggies. Pairing with four-star tackles DaMarrion Johnson and Kaeden Kent, signing all four players by early December will be the next challenge. The Miami Hurricanes will continue to pursue Mark Matthews heading into the summer, while Brown, Johnson, and Kent aren't seen as likely flips, which takes the pressure off Elko and his staff to focus on the rest of the remaining 2027 priority prospects.
So, who is the next 2027 recruit the Aggies will likely land? For this writer, my educated guess is either five-star cornerback Joshua Dobson or five-star linebacker Kaden Henderson . Already receiving predictions to land both players, Henderson, who will take his official visit to Texas A&M on June 5, is friends with Mark Matthews, and, like the five-star tackle, was connected to the Miami Hurricanes early in his recruiting process before the Aggies took the lead.
In a brief interview with AggieYell insider Joseph Hastings, available to the public, Mark Matthews stated that Kaden Henderson is his No. 1 recruiting target now that Henderson is firmly committed to Texas A&M. It’s safe to say Mark Matthews ( @mark95matthews ) is happy to be an Aggie 🤠 He’s also planning to recruit some more 5⭐️s to join him in College Station at the next level 👍 Matthews goes in-depth on his decision ➡️ https://t.
