The Mariners dropped to two games below .500 and dropped the Eddie Vedder Cup after getting shut out against the Padres

SEATTLE — The Seattle Mariners were unable to take advantage of the few early opportunities they had and fell prey to the San Diego Padres ' high-leverage arms in a game on Friday at T-Mobile Park in Seattle. The Mariners (22-24) fell to the Padres 2-0, dropped to 0-4 against their spring training complex partners this season and lost the Eddie Vedder Cup in the process.

The M's also dropped two games back behind the Athletics for first place in the American League West. Seattle currently occupies the third wild card spot in the American League. Despite allowing two runs, the M's' pitching staff was able to keep San Diego's lineup in check throughout most of the game despite allowing some traffic.
