ON THE APP STORE The Blues are looking for another head coach having sacked Liam Rosenior last month, and are thought to want an appointment in place before the start of the World Cup next month.
Rosenior was the second head coach to leave Stamford Bridge this season following the departure of Enzo Maresca in January. Chelsea closing in on agreement with Xabi Alonso Chelsea are said to have a shortlist of five or six names, but have made Alonso their preferred candidate, and positive conversations have taken place. Alonso is said to want assurances over several matters, including transfers, and reports have suggested Chelsea are prepared to give him what he wants.
Chelsea’s immediate priority is Saturday’s FA Cup final against Manchester City, and once that’s done the process is expected to accelerate. Alonso is the standout candidate and talkSPORT have reported the Blues are closing in on an agreement to make the Spaniard their next head coach. The report adds Chelsea are hoping to ratify the appointment after the FA Cup final, with Alonso believed to be keen to test himself in the Premier League.
