MONTVILLE — Not even the baseball gods could have drawn it up better. Mount Olive stunned six-time defending champion Delbarton, 8-7, in a thrilling Morris County Tournament final on May 15 at Montville High School, delivering what is arguably the biggest upset in tournament history before a packed crowd. Junior standout Brayden Longo led the charge in a performance for the ages.

He crushed a go-ahead three-run home run in the fourth inning, earned the win on the mound, and sealed the victory with a spectacular, game-ending double play to earn Most Valuable Player honors. The victory marks Mount Olive’s first Morris County Tournament championship since 1991 and just the second title in program history, ending a 34-year drought in dramatic fashion.
