Lansing, Union Springs roll to victories in IAC baseball title games

Union Springs secured its third consecutive Small School baseball title, while Lansing earned its second Large School crown in the last three seasons.

Union Springs and Lansing captured Interscholastic Athletic Conference baseball titles Friday, May 15 during a doubleheader at Watkins Glen High School. Union Springs (14-3) secured a third consecutive Small School championship with a 10-2 victory over Tioga Central in the opening game. Lansing (15-4) earned its second Large School crown in the last three seasons with a 10-1 victory over Elmira Heights' Thomas A.

Large School: Lansing 10, Edison 1 The Bobcats ran their winning streak to seven with the victory over Edison one day after posting an 11-0 victory over defending Large School champ Trumansburg in a tiebreaker that decided the IAC North Large School titlist. Aaden McMillen hit a three-run homer in the top of the second inning Friday to give the Bobcats a 3-0 lead.

Lansing tacked on three runs in the third on a two-run single from Brandon McMillen and Aaden McMillen's run. Aaden McMillen added an RBI single in the fourth for his fourth RBI, followed by a three-run fifth for Lansing that included a two-run single from Alex Boles. Bobcats starter Logan Mayo held Edison to one run over five innings.

Ryan Thompson struck out four over the final two innings. Paxton Hoover drove in Edison's run with a groundout.
