Locurto advanced to third on a wild pitch by Clemson's Hayden Simmerson. Clemson catcher Nate Savoie threw to second base trying to get Daniel, who also was attempting to advance. Daniel stopped short of second base and got in a rundown, trying to give Locurto the opportunity to score.
After several throws in the rundown it worked. Clemson got Daniel out near first base as Locurto raced home to end the game. Savoie threw to shortstop Tyler Lichtenberger, who threw to first baseman Luke Gaffney as the rundown began.
