Shocking weight loss: Nate Diaz at his skinniest in years before Mike Perry clash

Since leaving the UFC in 2022, Diaz has only fought twice in boxing and hasn’t stepped back into the cage. He beat Jorge Masvidal in 2024 after losing his debut to Jake Paul, a fight where he came in at a heavy 185lb.

He was never big even for 155lb, so by the time he needed to use the towel just to hit 185lb for Paul, there were questions about what kind of shape he was really in. Ahead of this fight though, Diaz is showing up much leaner — weighing in at just over 168lb for his bout against Perry. He came in at 168. 6lb, which is the lightest he’s been since leaving the 155lb division back in December 2015. At that time, Diaz was fighting at 156lb against Michael Johnson – a bout that became memorable more for what happened after than during it.

His post-fight promo about Conor McGregor set up one of the UFC’s most talked-about rivalries. Since then, Diaz moved up to 170lb and even hit 185lb for his fight with Jake Paul. This week started off with questions about whether Diaz was fully focused after he lit up during an open workout.

But weighing in at a number he hasn’t seen in over ten years suggests there’s real commitment behind his preparation. Perry also came in under the welterweight limit, weighing in at 169. 6lb.
