Records tumble at 2026 IVC track and field championships

Historic performances highlighted the IVC championships as 11 meet records fell and team titles were won by Tusky Valley girls and Indian Valley boys.

NEWCOMERSTOWN โ€“ When the athletes took the track and field May 14, fans saw 11 records fall during the 2026 Inter Valley Conference championships. Six individuals broke records while five schools set new records in relay events. Tuscarawas Valley junior Carson Hostetler set meet records in the 110-meter and 300-meter hurdles.

โ€œI set the record last year and have been running good coming into today,โ€ Hostetler said. โ€œIโ€™ve been working on accelerating between hurdles, and everything felt really good through the run. โ€ Departing the IVC | Seven Inter Valley Conference schools announce departure from league Tuscarawas Central Catholicโ€™s senior Elena Price set a record in the 800-meter run and capped off her career by winning the race four straight years.

"I didnโ€™t think I would win my freshman year,โ€ Price said. โ€œBut once I did, I wanted to come back and defend my title every year. โ€ The plan coming in: Start strong and hang on.

โ€œI just trust all the training Iโ€™ve done,โ€ she said. โ€œIโ€™ve had a lot of hard workouts, and once the race starts thatโ€™s the fun part. โ€ Tusky Valleyโ€™s 4x400-meter team of Braden Miller, Abe McElwee, Ben Brantley and Cade Conradtook down a record that has stood since 2017.
