Following Minnesota’s second-round elimination against the Colorado Avalanche , Hughes openly discussed his interest in staying with the Wild beyond his current contract. Speaking after the season-ending loss, the star defenseman made it clear he believes the franchise is moving in the right direction.
According to The Athletic’s Joe Smith, Hughes said, “I’m definitely open to re-signing here. ” The 26-year-old expanded further on why Minnesota has become an appealing fit. “I really like it here.
