Michigan football lands commitment from Charles Woodson Jr.
The son of perhaps the greatest Michigan football player is set to join the Wolverines family. Charles Woodson Jr. , the son of national champion and former Heisman Trophy winner Charles Woodson, committed to Michigan on Friday, May 15, he announced on Instagram.
It was almost one year ago in early June 2025 when the legacy received an offer from the previous staff, and even with Kyle Whittingham bringing in nearly an entirely new set of coaches, Woodson still opted to follow in his fatherโs footsteps. "Smart safety with best-in-class type of bloodlines that made noticeable strides between sophomore and junior campaigns," 247Sports director of scouting Andrew Irvins wrote. "Darts forward with conviction in run support, taking sound angles to the football despite not being the largest defender at this stage.
"Shows promising awareness in both zone and man coverage as he gets to the catch point and will play through hands. " A 5-foot-10ยฝ, 173-pound safety in the 2027 class from Orlando, Fla. , (Lake Nona High School), Woodson is not quite as heralded as his father was โ he is a three-star prospect, ranked as the No.
804 player in his class, No. 82 safety in the nation and No. 75 player in Florida per 247 Sports' composite rankings โ but with his bloodline, it's not hard to believe, once he grows into his frame, that he could take a notable leap.
Per his recruiting profile, Woodson had 73 tackles, eight pass breakups, two interceptions and one fumble recovery on defense for 8-4 Lake Nona. He also returned one kickoff for a touchdown on special teams. "I mean, it was cloud nine, man," Woodson told the Free Press last summer after his son received the offer from U-M.
