Game 2 vs South Dakota – THINGS TO LOOK FOR: The South Dakota Coyotes have one chance to pull an upset and that chance is pitcher Madison Evans. Evans started four games in the last three days of the Summit League Tournament, three against league regular-season champs UNO. She was shelled for 5 runs in one inning by the Mavericks in Saturday’s first game.
The other three? Three complete game victories allowing only 6 hits total. Two came by shutout and the other in which she gave up only one run in the if-needed-title game.
The one run was unearned. Why do I say Evans is their only chance? In those three games, the Yotes scored only 5 total runs.
The Coyotes have a team BA of . 272 with 22 home runs and 45 stolen bases. Throw in the Huskers’ Frahm/Jensen 1-2 punch and the season numbers, not to mention their final four games last weekend, is evidence there is not much to fear from their offense.
